I have always been someone who watches the sky. There’s something that happens at the end
of a day in the mountains when the light shifts from peaceful to something intense and breathtaking. Soft purples and blues surrendering to clouds so saturated with orange and crimson that you have to stop and just stare.
Lonesome Pine, completed in 2026, was born out of a lifetime of those moments. That solitary tree standing against the chaos of a burning sky isn’t just a composition it’s something I’ve admired, felt, and carried with me. I wanted whoever looks at this painting to feel the heat of that sky, to sense the stillness of that tree, and to remember a moment in their own life when nature stopped them in their tracks and reminded them how small and blessed we are to be in it.
This is one of my newest paintings and it came straight from my soul. From years of watching the sky do things that don’t seem possible and needing to paint what I felt. I hope it brings some of that fire and wonder into your home. There is nothing in this world like a sky that takes your breath away and makes a lasting impression
